UK Ministry

With the disbanding of Government the UK had to take on a new role to mange the country. This is due to, whether people liked it or not, anarchy could not reign. When setting up the new ministry the Executive branch look to the 1930's and 1940's for inspiration as this was deemed the time when the UK was at its best. MPs worked for nothing and had only the interest of the country at heart. At the top of the chain of command of the Commonwealth are the citizens. Their influence is what the Officers of the Ministry, work to.

Motto

Dædweorc - Mighty Work in old English

"Freedom, Justice, Honour, Duty, Mercy, Hope." is the motto for the Citizenship of the UK and the British Commonwealth

Offices

The new Ministry is divided in to Offices many of these are easily identifiable. Others are not so easy and some are just down right secretive and confusing! All are Offices of the Civil Service.

 These include;

  • The Cabinet Office
    • The head of the civil service is based here along with the heads of the various other offices.
  • The Education Office
    • All primary, secondary, and further education departments are within the Education Office. The education office is primarily concerned with providing the knowledge to enable civilians to better benefit the commonwealth. A basic education consists of the three R's ; reading, writing, and arithmetic. Students can then go on to further education learning specialised and specific skills.
  • The War Office
    • All military arms of the British Commonwealth are held within the War Office. Secondary roles include the Survey corps and parts of the colonisation corps.
  • The Tax Office
    • What used to be one of the biggest government departments is now one of the smallest. Its remit is to collect the funding necessary for the running of the Commonwealth.
  • The Law Office
    • The law department consists of the courts and penal systems. The Justice department is concerned with law enforcement.
  • The Health Office
    • All matters concerning public health comes under the banner of the Health Office.

Departments

Offices are split into departments. These can be fairly obvious what they do. They are set up and disbanded as required. They can be short or long-term.

Citizenship

Citizenship is a right that is earned. All civilians are eligible. Those who volunteer are eligible for citizenship. This is usually after a period of time working for the benefit of the Commonwealth by either serving or working for a living and not claiming any universal income. Those who choose not to are still given a prosperous life within the Commonwealth but they cannot influence the running of the Commonwealth.

Funding

The Ministry and the Commonwealth are funded by a simplified taxation system. This system doesn't tax citizens on what they earn, but it taxes everybody on what they buy. In a manner similar to the old, now defunct, VAT. Goods purchased have a 20% maximum taxation on them. There are no exceptions, no reductions, and no other taxes to pay.

All imports in to the Commonwealth are also taxed in accordance with the World Trade Organisations tariffs.

Other funding comes from the commercial arms of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and Royal Space Force. These are used for the transport of commercial goods and fare paying passengers. This has dramatically increased as the requirement for colonisation as expanded.

The Ministry also funds many charitable and voluntary organisations.
